This scene was generated as the backdrop for a Week End Theme challenge in which the challenge was to make a tribute to Rock and Roll, using images of Elvis Presley, the Beatles, young dancers, Eric Clapton's guitar, old records and the words 'Rock and Roll'.

I wanted a sunset sky with slightly exaggerated colours, a golden glow around the sun, and the sun streaming across water. The foreground was to be dark, because I wanted to silhouette the young dancers, and the legendary figures would be in the sky, fading into it. They would be linked to the young dancers by records cascading from the sky. The words would be in sunlight glowing on water.

I flattened the terrain because I wanted very few hills, the emphasis in the picture to be on sky and water. I increased the atmospheres and darkened the colour of both the sun itself and the sunlight, and placed it so that it would glow across the sky and reflect across the water.

The picture below shows this scene as a backdrop in the finished challenge picture, but although it was designed specifically to be used in this way, I think the finished render is a good enough Terragen to be in the gallery on its own merits, without the additions it was designed for.
